Halloween 1999

Here are the pictures from Halloween.  In the early evening John, Sarah and myself went down to Mike Snell's in Gilroy for pumpkin carving.     On the front porch, just to make sure we were all intimidated, Mike and his wife put their pumpkins.  They looked great!  We arrived and Mike told us we could scope our pumpkins out back.  We did not realize that we needed to bring our own pumpkins but Mike provided us with spares he had on hand.  We scooped the pumpkin innards out and then selected our patterns.  I picked out the cat, John selected the bat and Sarah picked the stars.  We snacked on the food Mike provided and used pins to mark our pumpkins with their patterns.  We then cut out the pumpkins with the tools that Mike provided.  We all had a great time and were quite happy with our creations when we left.

After pumpkin carving we stopped by Nicole's to pick up a costume for Sarah and then went back to the house to get ready!  We all got dressed in our costumes, which you see below.  My costume takes some time due to the lacing required.  It took much less time than it has before and then we had to pin the spots on Sarah.  Once we were ready we were off to the BackBeat.  Getting in the car when you cannot bend your torso is a bit challenging!  We arrived and waited in line for a while before getting inside.  Once inside we wandered about to the different dance rooms and then watched the costume contest.  After the contest we wandered back and danced in the small room.  Once we got tired of that we wandered into the big room to see if the music was any better.  It was not that much better so we people watched for a while then walked all through the crowd.  People commented on our costumes and several people had to play twister as we went past.  When we were tired we headed back home and crashed.
